About Everton Logo
Everton's blue shield contains a white depiction of the Everton Lock-Up, commonly known as Prince Rupert's Tower. The badge shows the club name, the year 1878 and the Latin motto "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" on a scroll. The 18th-century lock-up stands on Everton Brow and represents the district from which the club takes its name. The laurels were chosen as symbols of victory, 1878 is Everton's founding year, and the motto translates as "Nothing but the best is good enough".
